Scändi Tiny Coffee: a little shop with a big heart

there were no words to describe my awe as I walked into Scändi Tiny Coffee on a beautiful friday morning. the smells, the architecture; all of it was so perfect. coffee shops have become their own aesthetic on social media. each and every one of them is so unique in the drinks they offer and the design of their shops. Scändi Tiny Coffee, however, might have the others beat just because of one thing: it operates out of an actual tiny house. *insert high pitched "eek" here*

Scändi Tiny Coffee, formerly known as Barista Tiny, is located in the Lake Walk Tiny Home Community in Greer, South Carolina. The tiny home community started in 2017 by developer Randy Hanson. Residents of this community are just a short walk away from Lake Cunningham, hence the name "Lake Walk." Scändi Tiny Coffee opened in July of 2019 under the name "Barista Tiny" which was later changed to "Scändi Tiny Coffee." This coffee shop is 500 square feet, the size of many peoples' living rooms. the architecture is beautiful. it is simple and clean and makes the shop look so cozy. there are many places to sit, both inside and outside. the yard in front of Scändi Tiny Coffee has tables and chairs, with stringed lights hanging across the area. on the left is something like a large lean-to like shelter, filled with couches and cool hanging chairs.

when you walk inside the shop, you are greeted with the aroma of freshly ground coffee and sound of calming coffee shop music. they have barstool seating to look out onto the yard or to watch the baristas do their magic. on the right side of the shop, a fireplace completed with comfy couches and classy décor invites one to sit and stay awhile. although this is a legit tiny house, it felt so open and bright. the shop is aligned with windows on all sides giving the effect of a bigger shop. even the bathroom was beautiful.

my trip to Scändi was accompanied by my dear friend Rudy. we are both suckers for cute coffee shops and there was no way I would visit here without her. we both brought our school work to do because school never stops, but kept getting distracted by vibes this coffee shop was giving. how could you not gaze over and watch the baristas pour beautiful latte art or sit in amazement on this idea of opening a coffee shop in a tiny home. the idea is brilliant. I am kind of basic when it comes to what I order at coffee shops, but will literally try anything with espresso. I ordered a caramel latte with oat milk, the best latte milk on the planet.(change my mind) the coffee was quite expensive, $6.75 to be exact, but you're not just paying for the drink when you come here. this place was perfect for studying. they offered free Wi-Fi and had many tables and outlets for your laptop. when my drink arrived it was stunning. I rarely drink hot coffee but this cooler weather has shifted my taste buds. don't worry, when it snows this year you better believe I'll still be making an iced coffee in the morning. no amount of latte art can change that. back to the coffee, it was delicious. the coffee had a wonderful taste, the perfect amount of sweetness while still having that strong espresso kick.

of course when you go to a place like this you have to take a million pictures for the 'gram. pose with your coffee and you'll be more basic than ever, but maybe you're like me and you like basic.

that's enough about me and my cheesy instagram photos, back to the coffee! Scändi Tiny Coffee offers a small selection of baked goods, like scones, miniature cookies, and other little pastries. their coffee menu consists of the usual coffees, like lattes, americanos, and cold brew, but also has some unique non-coffee drinks, like chai tea, matcha, and hot chocolate. while we were visiting they had this drink called the butterfly latte which was blue! the barista told us it was made out of butterfly pea powder which has so many health benefits. I love that they offer both traditional and unique drinks here.

my visit to Scändi Tiny Coffee was great. I left feeling so inspired by the idea of coffee gone tiny. as someone who is on the path to opening their own coffee shop in the future, going to places like these gets me so excited for what's to come. the baristas were so nice and kindly answered any questions we had about their drinks. there is no doubt that I will come back again and again. oh, and did I mention they're dog friendly? you can watch the good girls and boys while you sip your coffee. what's not to love about that? if you ever find yourself in Greer, make a little trip over to Scändi Tiny Coffee. this tiny shop will leave your heart feeling full.

thanks for reading! if you enjoyed this post please consider reading my others! more caffeinated posts to come.
